CAD'S DACHSHUNDS
Connie and Lance Delaney
Lutz, Fl

My first longhair dachshund, Lori, came to me from my good friend Donna Collins who was associated with the Royaldachs Kennels in Venice, FL that was owned by Betty Copeland. Lori was a wonderful girl who was with us until she was 15. She was bred twice.

Lori's  first litter produced Cinnamon, sired by MT'S Bar Harbor Express (Buzzie) bred by Merritt and Gerry Taylor, and owned by Donna Collins. Her second litter produced Billy, sired by CH Royaldachs Christmas Cherub (Hairy) bred and owned by Betty Copeland and Donna Collins.

Our first Champion Longhair Dachshund, CH Royaldachs Abendstern (Evie), again came to us from Betty Copeland of the Royaldachs Kennels and was shown to her Championship by Donna Collins. Evie was bred to CH MT’S Black Diamond (Blackie) bred by and owned by Merritt and Gerry Taylor to produce a litter of three longhair standard black and tan males, aka “the Bubbas”. From that litter we showed CAD’S Johnny Walker Black (Big Bubba) to his Championship.

We also kept Big Bubba’s littermate brother CAD’S Jack Daniels Black Label. We were fortunate to have enjoyed their company until they were almost 17 years of age. The third puppy, Wofat von Schultz, went to live at the fine home of Stan and Emily Ward.

Below you see Big and Little Bubba after competing in the Veteran's Class at DCA in Fredricksburg Maryland at the age of 13.

CAD'S Kahlua of Royaldachs (Katie)

Several years later, we got a puppy girl from Betty Copeland’s last litter, CAD’S Kahlua of Royaldachs. Katie has been with us since 1991 and is an incredible inspiration of strength. Missy Kate as we now call her turned 16 years old on August 6, 2007 and was a wonderful part of our family until we lost her on October 30, 2007.

CH Arimich Zinna Von Links SL (Zoey)

In December of 2002 a lovely standard longhair puppy girl joined us. CH Arimich Zinnia Von Links SL (Zoey) completed her championship quickly and has continued her success in the show ring with Best of Breed and Best of Opposite wins. In February of 2006, Lucy, Heather, our friend Kim and I had a wonderful time taking Zoey to New York City to compete at the WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB SHOW at Madison Square Garden. See the Zoey's Story tab for an update on Zoey

Toward the end of 2004, November to be exact, we again added to the family. This time PBD’S JThorpe "The BrightPath" SL (Thor), a handsome standard longhair puppy dog, joined us and quickly completed his Championship. His successful show career is now underway. Thor will be in the ring this fall as a Special and we are looking forward to the fun of continued wins in the Variety class.

CAD'S Kodi

Lastly but not least, in 2000 we rescued a lovely Siberian Husky. Kodi has been a wonderful addition to our family and gets along well with everyone in our household. In this picture he was being shown at the Siberian Speciality in the Rescue Class. The entry fee for this class, $10, is used to further Siberian Husky Rescue and provide foster homes for Siberians until they can be placed in  permanent residence. This is a practice that I would love all Breed Clubs to adopt as it helps to place our breeds in a good homes and is really no cost at all to the club.

Please visit again for updates on how all our dogs are doing both in the ring and the whelping box.
